A publication channel was created in 1988 at the Department of Mechanical Engineering. At the time, it was called “Monografias” and was aimed at promoting reporting on and discussion of the technical and scientific work of faculty members and researchers. In parallel, in 1992 the “Boletim Técnico da Mecânica” (Technical Bulletin of Mechanics) was created with the aim of reporting on Master’s Dissertations and Doctoral Theses that have been accepted in the Mechanical Engineering Graduate School. Up to 1995, when “Monografias” merged with “Boletins,” 98 monographs had been published. Starting in 2000, with the creation of the Professional Master’s in Automotive Engineering, works based on this course’s Final Thesis papers were also published in the Bulletins. Since 2000, over 80 Technical Bulletins have been published and sent to more than 400 libraries in Brazil and Latin America.
The Technical Bulletins currently contain thesis abstracts, dissertations and end of course papers written by the students and the student’s advisers, in the format of a journal or congress publication (“papers”). Because they are based on papers accepted by examining committees of up to five highly qualified members, they are not assessed by the Editorial Commission or by peers, with the authors being fully responsible for their content and quality.
Current and past issues of the Bulletin can be found at the Bulletin List website. Papers can be found in full at “Prof. Dr. Alfredo Coaracy Brazil Gandolfo” library:
